PHILOSOPHY

The members of the staff of St. Mark Parish School are committed to the goal of helping each child develop to her or his full potential.  We recognize that each child differs in gifts, abilities, interests, and motivation.  Staff members are resolved to work with the parents and students to build the best possible environment that will meet the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of our students.  This spirit of cooperation is necessary to achieve the goal of meeting the needs of the whole child.

An integral part of the development of the whole child is an emphasis on the spiritual and prayerful life.  This development needs the following three-fold focus:

1.  To provide a religious education that is authentic in doctrine, responsive to the working of the Holy Spirit, and open to the changing needs of our time.

 2.  To build a community of faith which is active, caring, and conscientious.  It needs to be based on faith, peace, camaraderie, friendship, harmony, love, patience, and respect for others.

 3.  To give service to our Catholic community and to the entire human community.

The total school community is committed to the development of concerned, educated Catholic citizens, who accept and feel the responsibility to carry out the duties of Catholicism in our world today.
