Minutes
from Meetings:
Minutes from the January 13th Parent Club Meeting This open
roundtable meeting included St. Mark School Parents, Kathy Keck, Rick
Altenhofen, and Father Harris. Father responded to issues
presented to him in the December Roundtable meeting and answered all
questions from the audience. Reporting of Faithful
Stewardship Plan (Mass attendance via envelopes)
Father believes that putting an envelope in the basket at mass is an
outward sign of your participation in the Faithful Stewardship Plan. As
such, he will continue verifying Sunday and Holy Day mass attendance via
this method. Father clarified that the participation requirement is 75%
of Sundays and Holy Days during the school year. No attendance will be
verified during the summer. This requirement will be updated in
the School Handbook as well as in the covenant that will be signed by
all parents on the Faithful Stewardship Plan. There will be no
exceptions to this requirement, even for parents who belong to Parishes
without a school. Non-compliance will be addressed initially
with a phone call from the Parish Office. Policy
decisions made by various councils, no visibility or notice, and changes
made after contracts are signed Father agrees to
publishing minutes for appropriate councils and meetings. There are some
decisions that are his alone. It was acknowledged that the
handbook came out late with some last minute changes. It is currently
being updated and will be available prior to or during registration.
Friday Mass - additional weekly Mass for children
Mass on the scheduled Fridays (not every Friday, but most
Fridays) will continue. Children have been participating in the 10:00 am
masses in the Children's Choir, and Father has been talking directly
with the children during the homily. Parents have suggested that
he come to the classrooms to teach religion and said he would be happy
to when invited. Kathy Keck will work the teachers to get him invited
into the classrooms. Father said that he will not add additional
mandatory masses for the children in the coming years.
In closing: Father and Mrs. Keck said that they are always available
to discuss issues with families.
