Non Uniform Days: Under Uniform Guidelines in the handbook the explanation for
dress is: The uniform is worn because modest dress reflects commitment to a
Christ like life and shows respect for self, for fellow beings, and God.
Personal grooming and
cleanliness, as well as the clothes we wear, set a positive example to those
around us.
Last week we had a week of non uniform dress and we
questioned clothes the students were wearing. I did a lot of observing through
the week at stores, church, and school and looked at jeans people were wearing.
I do want to be consistent and I had to rethink this policy for clarification.
Parents need to look at their student in non uniform dress and read the policy.
Thursday 2/11 is a non uniform day and I went to each classroom going over my
expectations.
Jeans - "skinny
jeans", jeans, in fact any pants are okay as long as the student has at
least an inch of room around their legs, if the jeans are so skin tight not even
a toothpick can squeeze in then the jeans are too tight. If a student pulls the
stretchy material away from their leg and it snaps back the pants are too
tight. Please help us out and check your student before leaving for school.
Shirts - no tight shirts can be worn, spaghetti straps are not acceptable
Leggings - these can be worn under long shorts, skirts, or dresses
Skirts/dresses/shorts - need to be the length of the uniform
Shorts -
need to be worn on your natural waist
