Return to 8th Grade

Dear Parents of an Eighth Grader:

October is a busy month and the students get first hand experience with prioritizing and time management. In addition to their regularly scheduled homework, eighth graders are working on their Oratory speeches and their Newton Scooters for Science. The final draft of the speech is due October 30 and the speech is given November 12th (after much practice!). The Science test is October 28 and the Newton Scooter is demonstrated November 2nd.

It was nice to see so many of you on our Curriculum Night. If you have any concerns about anything we discussed, please don’t hesitate to call me at school (364-1633) or at my home (363-3227).

Midterms are being mailed today. Be looking for them; this will give you an opportunity to see how your student is doing thus far. There are still 6 weeks left and your students can raise his/her grade.

If you are considering a Catholic high school, make sure you are doing the following:

·         Registering for the entrance exam

·         Downloading and filling out the admissions forms. Two pieces come to the school to be filled out. I would like those two pieces before Christmas break.

·         Scheduling a visit to the school (this is optional). Please avoid visiting between Dec. 1 and Dec 15th as we are practicing for the Nativity.

The following are the websites where you can get information about admissions:

archbishopmurphyhs.org                       holynames-sea.org

blanchetk12wa.us                                odea.org

seaprep.org

I am trying to get lots of this information on the school website for you. Check it out! Go to www.stmss.org; then click on Parent’s Page; then click on Classrooms; and finally, under my picture, click on My Page. Let me know if there are things you would like to see on that page that would be helpful to you.

God bless you,

Tami Martin
