Rules

·        All CYO Basketball teams will play according to the current National Federation of State High School Association rules unless otherwise specified in this manual or the rules herein outlined.

·        When fielding more than one 4th and 5th grade team, parishes/schools must divide the teams equally based on talent.

·        Team rosters are limited to 15 players. No exceptions! Please remember the playing time policy when making a decision concerning roster size.

·        Team rosters are due prior to the second game of the season. In the case of late rosters, all games played prior will be subject to forfeit. If the roster is not submitted by the third game, the team may be ruled ineligible for post-season play.

·        Players may be placed and participate on only one team roster for the entire season, including the playoffs (exception: junior varsity players moving up to a varsity team for playoffs with commission approval).

·        Schools will be divided up in A and AA divsions based on school student body size. JV teams will also play within those divisions.

·        In 6th - 8th grade, the JV/Varsity split must be based on individual skill levels. Please call CYO with any questions, or for help in assessing individual skill levels.

·        3rd graders are not allowed to play on 4th grade teams. Requests for exceptions will be considered on an individual basis by the Athletic Director and the commission.
